The GOLDILUX GAL-2H is a precision light meter designed to measure the illuminance of visible spectral radiation in units of lux or optionally in footcandles. It features a 4½ digit liquid crystal display that is auto-ranging over one decade and utilizes a built-in silicon photodiode detector with photometric filtering.
The GOLDILUX GAL-2H is engineered for reliable and flexible light measurement. While it contains a built-in detector, the device is designed so that an external probe may be plugged into the light meter. When an external probe is connected, the built-in detector is automatically disconnected, and the liquid crystal display updates to show the quantity and units measured by the new probe.
The instrument is characterised by practical external controls, including an ON/OFF switch conveniently located on the left side of the meter housing. Operators can use a dedicated HOLD button to “freeze” the display for easier reading. This hold function can also be operated remotely from up to 5 metres away using an optional remote hold cable. Furthermore, the meter includes an analogue output that supplies a 2V output for a full-scale reading, allowing users to record light levels directly to a chart recorder or data acquisition system. The device operates on a standard 9V battery and displays a “battery low” warning when a replacement is required.
