Description

Detailed Overview

An external sensor module payload designed to be mounted on the Elios 3 inspection drone. It is used to detect and measure the presence of toxic or combustible gases within confined, hazardous spaces. This payload provides a critical safety and environmental monitoring solution for pre-entry atmospheric testing and leak detection.

Important Safety Notice on the Use of the Flammable Gas Sensor

  1. Elios 3 is Not Intrinsically Safe

This drone is not safe for use in environments with known flammable gas. Do not operate in areas with potential gas presence.

  1. Airflow Impact on Measurement

The drone’s airflow can alter gas concentration, affecting sensor accuracy. Readings should be considered approximate.

  1. Sensor as a Safety Aid

The gas sensor is a safety aid, not a precise gas leak detection or quantification tool.

  1. Follow Safety Protocols

The sensor does not replace standard safety procedures. Always follow proper protocols for flying in potentially hazardous environments.

By mounting and using the Flammable Gas Sensor by Flyability, you accept these limitations and full responsibility for the drone’s operation and any resulting consequences. Flyability is not liable for any damage, injury, or loss incurred during use.

An add-on module to detect and map hazardous gases within confined spaces during flight.

  • This payload module integrates gas detection sensors onto the drone, allowing the operator to remotely identify the presence and concentration of dangerous gases (e.g., methane, hydrogen sulfide) in tanks, tunnels, or pipes.
  • It is essential for safety and pre-entry hazard assessment.
  • The product is a dedicated multi-gas sensor module that mounts directly onto the drone airframe.

The Flammable Gas Sensor is factory calibrated to the accuracy levels shown below, with no need for further recalibration or adjustment.
It also detects other gases not listed in the table, including 1-butene, acetylene, ammonia, cyclohexane, decane, diesel, dimethyl carbonate, ethanol, gasoline vapors, hexane, and methanol.
However, the sensor does not provide LEL accuracy for these gases and may over- or under-report, so special precautions should be taken when using the MPS to detect them.

1. Accuracy is guaranteed for methane and hydrogen across the full environmental range. For other gases, accuracy typically meets published tolerances under standard
conditions of 20°C and 50% RH, and when oxygen is present in the air. Additionally, the airflow generated by the drone’s propellers can disperse gas concentrations around the sensor and interfere with the accuracy of
gas measurements. For more precise readings, it is recommended to land the drone and turn off the propellers.

ELIOS 3 GAS SENSOR PAYLOAD – DRONE ACCESSORY

The Flammable Gas Sensor Payload by Flyability is a type of sensor built to add an additional layer of safety to Elios 3 drone operations. It is used to detect and measure the concentration of combustible gases in the air, which may ignite or explode if exposed to an ignition source.
This Payload should not replace standard gas detection procedures and is not built as a tool to search for gas concentrations. If any level of gas is detected you should immediately exit the area with the drone and shut off the drone. Supplier: Flyability SA
