Detailed Overview

INTROS™ is composed of a basic unit and a magnetic head, linked by a detachable cable of up to 20 m. Each magnetic head is engineered for a specific rope diameter range — clearly marked in its model code (for example, MH22–45 handles ropes from 22 mm to 45 mm). The Monoblock MB8–24 version houses both the magnetic head and electronics in a single body, so no external basic unit or cable is needed.
During inspection, either the rope moves through the magnetic head or the head travels along the rope while the system records data. The basic unit displays inspection results, rope speed, and current position in real time. Afterward, data can be transferred to a computer and viewed as signal-distance diagrams, known as traces (LMA, LF, speed). Live viewing of traces during testing is also available.

Principle of Operation

The instrument relies on magnetic flux leakage — a method that uncovers hidden flaws by sensing disruptions in magnetic flow through steel saturated by a magnetic field. In the world of inspection, this technique is known as magnetic rope testing (MRT).

Strong magnets within the magnetic head fully magnetize the rope. As long as the rope is sound, the magnetic field above its surface stays even, and the sensors register a steady signal. But when the rope bears scars — broken wires, corrosion, or any change in cross-section — the magnetic field warps and leaks more intensely at those spots. The sensors detect this disturbance as a shift in signal.
The base unit then gathers, stores, and processes this data, turning invisible flaws into readable insight.

Basic Unit Intros

There are two basic unit models — BU-16 and BU-M. Both are handheld, equipped with data storage and download capability, built with waterproof keypads, rechargeable batteries, and leather pouches to shield them from dust and rain. Each can be mounted onto the magnetic head to move along a stationary rope, allowing standalone operation.

The BU-16 is compatible with most magnetic heads, except models MH6-26, MH22-45, MH60-85, MH80-120, MH100-150, and MH100-175. It features a dual-section LED display for showing measurement data and distance during inspection.

Magnetic head MH22-45 has non-detachable sensors and a set of sleeves.
