Most collimators are constructed of Tungsten Heavy Alloy for maximum attenuation. They are available in a variety of shapes and sizes in both directional and panoramic formats. Directional beam options typically include variations from 30° thru’ 90°.
Integrated Shielding: Provides effective shielding in non-target directions to reduce unnecessary radiation spread.
Operational Connectivity: Units connect to the end of a guide tube or directly to Gamma Ray Projectors to focus the beam toward the film.
Controlled Area Reduction: Significantly limits the size of the exclusion zone during exposure through directional collimation.
Enhanced Productivity: Reduced barrier distances allow non-radiation work to continue in close proximity to the inspection site.
A collimator is used to direct and shape the primary beam of radiation whilst providing shielding in all other directions.
Tungsten provides superior shielding and stopping power in a smaller, lighter package compared to lead, making it ideal for portable field applications.
