Sonagel D1 is a concentrated dry-powder couplant that mixes easily with water on-site to form a stable, clear yellow gel specifically formulated for ultrasonic non-destructive testing (NDT). Engineered for maximum field portability, a single 1 kg container of Sonagel D1 yields 20 litres of full-strength couplant, eliminating the logistical burden of transporting heavy bulk liquids to remote job sites.
Key Features & Field Advantages
High Yield Efficiency: 1 kg of powder converts into 20 litres of ready-to-use couplant when mixed with water, offering exceptional cost and transport efficiency.
Optimised Field Mobility: Purpose-built for on-site spot testing, rope access inspections, and high-altitude or remote field sites where carrying pre-mixed bulk gel is impractical.
Stable Gel Consistency: Formulates into a smooth gel that maintains acoustic coupling on flat, angled, and overhead surfaces without rapid runoff.
Visual Clarity: Bright yellow powder mixes into a clear yellow gel to ensure easy visibility and uniform coverage across inspection areas.
Technical Specifications
Form: Fine, bright yellow powder
Mixed Appearance: Clear yellow gel
Mixing Ratio: 1 kg powder to 20 litres water
Primary Application: Ultrasonic flaw detection, thickness measurement, and field inspection across the Sonagel couplant range
Directions for Use
Preparation: Slowly add the required amount of Sonagel D1 powder into clean water, stirring until a smooth, uniform gel consistency is achieved.
Application: Apply directly to the substrate or transducer surface prior to scanning. Clean remaining residue from the inspection surface using water or clean rags upon completion.
