Pulsed Eddy Current

GammaTec Product Sidebar

Pulsed Eddy Current

Pulsed Eddy Current is a specialized electromagnetic inspection technique designed to detect corrosion and measure wall thickness without needing direct contact with the metal surface. Unlike conventional eddy current, PEC uses a pulsed magnetic field to penetrate through thick insulation, fireproofing, or coatings, making it the premier tool for Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) programs. This category features advanced PEC Probes and High-Resolution Scanners capable of inspecting through several inches of non-conductive material. Ideal for storage tanks, insulated piping, and offshore splash zones, PEC allows you to survey assets in-service, eliminating the massive costs associated with removing insulation or erecting scaffolding for routine inspections.

Detect corrosion under insulation (CUI) and fireproofing without costly removal. A Pulsed Eddy Current Technology (PECT) System is a non-contact NDT method designed to measure average wall thickness reduction (corrosion) in ferromagnetic materials, even through thick layers of insulation or cladding. It solves the expensive and dangerous problem of CUI/CUF inspection, providing a rapid screening method to locate and quantify metal loss for asset integrity management. Supplier: Maxwell NDT
